The Devil Raised Us
I just read a movie review of the Transformers movie on Yahoo and it prompted an immediate emotional response for several reasons. One, I have imbibed a number of drinks with rum as the main ingredient, and two, I found myself asking aloud, " When did what I was raised on turn into the "Devils Playground". Here's the deal, I was raised Lutheren and up untill I went to war in 2003 I didn't doubt that God didn't have my back. Now I find that my faith is taxed not because a lack of faith but a question of why God would let our society, and lets go for broke here, the worlds society as a whole get this far lost as He has. That's just my beliefs, a little background saying I do believe in something at least. The review goes on to say that families who see the movie should ask, "Families who see this movie should talk about what Optiumus Prime thinks makes the human race worth saving and what has made the Transformers popular over the years. What things will you look back on in 50 years and be glad that you did?" First of all kids like robots and cars and shit that changes shape. Don't take their imaginations away by putting a adult spin on it. Plus I don't agree with Optiumus that we DO deserve saving so let your kids decide on their own as they grow up. AS THEY GROW UP!! Our culture micromanages so much it's rediculus. It also says,"He (Michael Bay the director) knows how to hit the sweet spot between the nostalgic affection felt by kids who grew up back when we still called the shows "cartoons" and not "animation" and winning over those who have no previous connection and just want to see some slam-bang robot-on-robot action." First of all who doesn't know about Transformers?? Have I gotten so old that the younger generation doesn't have any Transformer knowledge? I can see them having to explain Voltron, but Transformers?!?!?! Come the hell on! On a grammatical note when did we start calling them anything other then cartoon's??!! Look I happen to be a cartoon and we don't call ourselves animations I can assure you. If you don't believe me you can go right on over to the good Dr. Robinson's page and ask him if I'm a cartoon. "Hey hey lets go watch Saturday morning animations!!" What asshole thought that up? Add to this discusion the many people who claim that violence in cartoons has lead to the rise in murderers in our country. Hey ass hats, I LOVE Loony Toons and Animaniacs and all the other violent cartoons that you all think turns us into killers!! Look here's the deal, it's not the tv or the movie, or even the internet, it's the parenting or lack there of. So when you go to take your kids to see the movies from now on please keep in mind that what they see they may want to emmulate. Maybe they'll want to play Autobots and Decepticons and that some of them may die in the imaginations of the children playing. That doesn't mean that they are going to come at you Lizzie Borden style deep in the night. If we keep stiffeling our childrens imagination then we are going to keep raising the same Laguna Beach ass bags for kids and you all know what that means. All of us are going to, in our old age, have to talk to these idiots to try and get health care and the like. Screw that! Let your kids be kids and think about kid things and guide them, which requires you pay attention to them too, into adulthood when the time is right. Don't ruin an innocent movie with adult bullshit that is all too prevalent in our lives anyway!!
See you all further on down the road.
